FAQ

_________________________________________________________________

This is a lot of work! Can it really be done?
Yes! Even more could be included in the program, but we thought this included the basics of cultivating a faithful pastor. Still, it will require self-discipline, perseverance, and perhaps a few sleepless nights. In other words, it will require what is often required of pastors.

What happens after completion of the apprenticeship?
After 3 years of study, effort, ministry and mentoring; the elders and body of Immanuel will be well-placed to give an informed assessment of your life, gifts, and growth. “Graduation” from the program does not guarantee that one will become an elder at Immanuel.

I’m not sure I have 3 years to give. Should I even start?
Yes! This is a great program of discipleship for men desiring to be elders, even if they can’t complete the
program. Those who can stay 3 years will be sure to get the most out of the program and ensure a knowledgeable assessment by the elders.

Why not include more technical study?
First, we want our program to be reproducible around the world. Second, there are others, even in our city, who would be experts in Hebrew and technical theology. This program is designed to provide the men of Immanuel with the biblical focus and practical experience for men desiring to be pastors.

Who keeps track of my progress?
You will. This is primarily a self-service apprenticeship. If you feel like you’re falling behind or not making progress, you will of course have significant access to the elders to discuss your progress.

What’s the cost?
$100 per year. This will help the church cover the costs of materials and special guest speakers. Scholarships will be available for those in need.
